While In Route!
Self injuring blows we often apply without weighing the costs to our lives.
“Shooting ourselves in the foot” then becomes a truth that repeats at great price.
Thus breaking such cycles is daily our task yet not only for us but the wounded as well.
Whose paths intersecting need Help’s intervention when we did not stop where they fell. So!
With eyes widely opened, let us harm no more. No, not Self nor another, dear LORD!
Yea! Save each on both roads towards YOU intersecting…and protect all our steps while in route!

Devotional: 1 Peter 2:22-25 “HE committed no sin, neither was deceit found in HIS mouth.
23 When HE was reviled, HE did not revile in return; when HE suffered, HE did not threaten, but continued entrusting HIMSELF to HIM WHO judges justly.
24 HE HIMSELF bore our sins in HIS body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By HIS wounds you have been healed.
25 For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.“
Also Colossians 3:2 “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.“
What causes so much of self-harming / self- loathing incidents is found in which “direction” we love most.
On things above or on the things of earth.
GOD’s WORD proof is found in Matthew 6:21.
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Spurgeon once said; “Whatever a man depends upon, whatever rules his mind,
…whatever governs his affections, whatever is the chief object of his delight, is his god.”
Quite sadly then we stub our toes, skin our knees and fall to the ground often whenever our eyes are not locked wholly upon CHRIST.
WHO is GOD!
And HE directs us not to promote our own earthly paths above HIS.
Why?
Because those who may be open to influence away from the main road — CHRIST’s…
…will go farther from HIM in the pursuit of their own happiness.
Then acknowledged and yet repeated “errant choices” will often cause “self- inflicted injuries” of varying kinds.
Regret and Remorse show we’re to blame for being off course and sadly many wind up hating themselves.
But GOD! Thank YOU, LORD…for loving the sinner like me and hating my sin!
What glorious separation!
So, oh Self! Love yourself as HIS child and cling to HIS path rather than building your own somewhat “nearby”.
Till HE returns then we’re all “in route” to HIM, amen?
Protecting any path which doesn’t intersect with HIS then is like claiming to have life in our branch which remains disconnected from The Vine.
So “Love the sinner then but not the sin.”
Yes! Care for yourself and others in route also…by humbly and contritely staying in HIS footprints on the only path which matters.
Oh LORD, please correct me where I err and daily show me YOUR footprints to relentlessly follow!
