With Pride Ending Praises!

James 4:6 “But HE gives more grace! Therefore it says, “GOD opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

With Pride Ending Praises!

Single us out, LORD… from Pride’s congregation. Remove all our steps from such selfish communion.

Till in great silence of Prayer most fervent, we

only see YOU…just ahead all through Life.

May present Time find us so focused and thankful that we are not left to our ways.

Where YOUR course corrections have rescued the Lost of YOUR children to stand — realigned.

What thanksgiving songs surge through the voice of our hearts;

What uplifted praises now flow from each soul!

For “to our devices” YOU chose not to leave us, so please redirect us should Pride choose to stray!

As HIServant reminding all to lift our eyes from every prideful path,

Devotional: Proverbs 11:2 “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.”

Pride has two faces.

The positive side focuses on CHRIST with any and all boasting of and in HIM alone.

The negative side goes off course, elevating Self above others with disrespect to GOD WHO made us.

Deception also gets woven in here and people get tricked into following another…who they thought was following JESUS.

So we must be humble, contrite and trembling at HIS WORD! Isaiah 66:2 spells this out for us with great clarity!

“All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the LORD.

But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at MY WORD.”

Self Righteousness then is a selfish heart condition which can quickly fester into a full blown disease.

For instance: 1 John 2:16 “For all that is in the world — the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life — is not from the FATHER but is from the world.”

So whatever doesn’t show us as humbled, contrite and trembling at HIS WORD…then isn’t from our LORD GOD.

The solution? Use the lens of HIS WORD to review all words, actions and our own thoughts.

Be zealous students who daily compare our lives with HIS walk and boast only to be privileged to serve HIM relentlessly!

Amen and amen!
