To try out one’s patience
is like “wearing in” shoes.
Defined then, its practice,
says Peace we will choose.
But when others wear out
what we’ve tried to keep in
it uncovers our weakness…
which can become sin.
So LORD JESUS, LORD GOD!
Help us trust in YOUR ways
so our calm becomes stronger
and we lift YOUR praise.
Yea, without one delay
let YOUR peace go before me,
completing the circle
where we reflect THEE!

Devotional: Colossians 3:12 “Put on then, as GOD’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.”
Psalm 37:7 “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for HIM; worry not yourself over the one who prospers in his way…”
1 Corinthians 13:4 “Love is PATIENT, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.”
“LORD, grant me patience…and I want it now!” I forget who first said that but it is proof of our flesh to say the least.
We are impatient by reason of our old natures. Yet we’re not controlled by them, amen? The battle then is waging war with HIS peace and not our knee-jerk reactions.
“Easier said than done!” is another cliche’. But we gain footholds forward by reading HIS WORD and applying it daily.
We gain steps of progress by embracing the tests sent to us and responding with Scripture and Wisdom.
Hard to do in the moment at times, yes. But to what have we been called? Instant yet negative reactions? In no way!
So it is our own and unique responsibility to curb such “outbursts” in favor of HIS peace, amen?
Then let us be filled with the WORD this morning to turn our cheek quickly to demonstrate the Patience and Peace of our Prince, JESUS CHRIST!
