1 Corinthians 11:24 “When HE had given thanks, he broke the bread and said, “This is MY body, which is for you. Do this in memory of ME.”
Communion’s Stilled Transformations
Becoming” in the NAME of the
LORD is a journey of life-long proportions… but not for the strong.
Only those who are broken, and daily remaining shall be — in HIS rest — carried on.
Walking with Faith in GOD’s steps which we follow, HIS SPIRIT’s compelling propels us
to wholly regress from the pride of the flesh which deceives those
So we cannot “become” more transformed by the pressing of soul “self-sufficiency’s” efforts.
Rather! Hourly bowing brings quickest CHRIST’s image when stilled are our hearts in
As HIServant eternally dependent on HIS finished work,
Devotional: Psalm 51:16-17 “The sacrifices of GOD are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O GOD, YOU will not despise. For YOU do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; YOU are not pleased with burnt offering.”
What is the “presently apparent” leaning regarding Belief and Faith? towards GOD’s Sovereignty or man’s? Let’s look at it from a contrasting view. Is there depravity in man and GOD…or just man?
Why these questions are important regarding personal transformation is because “becoming” more like CHRIST each hour requires a full grasping of man’s unhealable, unfixable depravity.
As such, to boast that man has some sovereignty means that in that same amount…we’re robbing CHRIST of HIS.
John 3:29b-31 “Therefore this joy of mine is now complete. HE must increase, but I must decrease. HE WHO comes from above is above all. He who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks in an earthly way. HE WHO comes from heaven is above all.”
Notice the repetition of the text that GOD is above all. HE is completely in control. We serve eagerly doing things that might seem like “free will” but I tell you HE is not surprised. HE already knew.
Yet the basic math shows that those clinging to the myth of man’s sovereignty do so by letting go of the Truth of GOD’s total supremacy.
Now HE is still in total control. Totally sovereign…whether one’s errant belief chooses to “reduce” HIS power in their mind or not. So where in the world does this false narrative come from?
Let’s start with Philippians 2:12. “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling…”
Work! Ok, that means I can choose to work or not to. But GOD already knew your “choice” before HE spoke the world’s into existence. It helps to focus on this fact.
Remember that Redemption is NOT synonymous with Salvation as HE
paid it all at Calvary for HIS own. We weren’t physically born yet. Yet HE applied all our sins to HIS Cross without our “additions or efforts”.
So what are we “working out”? Our walk. We are HIS because HE made us wheat and HIS sheep as opposed to weeds and satan’s goats.
Therefore! The deeper we press in, deeply understanding our eternal depravity apart from HIS changing us, the more love and holy reverence we display.
Any part we claim to have brought to our Redemption is pure heresy. Such statements gloss over the fact that our old nature can’t do anything to hear, see or accept CHRIST in any way.
Such statements further ignore the fact that HE only caused light to shine in our hearts and HIS gifts and HIS calling is irrevocable!
Can’t be taken back! You can’t dismiss this wonderful truth any more than Paul could have ignored CHRIST on the road to Damascus.
Or as Job…when he didn’t want to
go to Nineveh.
Again, what’s the big deal? Aren’t you forgetting Christian responsibility? Not at all. Most churches promoting man’s effort and sovereignty surely don’t let any forget it.
“You need to come down to this stage/altar and repent because you need to clean up your flesh, do more, come to church every time these doors are open” and…you fill in the blank.
We either believe that GOD does everything perfectly after the sovereign, irrefutable counsel of HIS own will or…we feel we are somehow sovereign “enough” to make events happen as we want them and will them.
We pray diligently but our petitions must not be demanding things be done as we think. Rather and solely as HE wills…WHO knows the end from the beginning and is the Alpha and Omega; the AUTHOR and FINISHER of our faith which came solely from HIM as a gift!
He molds us when we are willing contrite, not falsely boasting of our own strengths. That’s WHY becoming more like HIM isn’t for the “self-strong”.
Psalm 51:8 “Make me to hear joy and gladness, let the bones which YOU have broken rejoice.”
Submit daily then to HIS proactive breaking of our flesh through daily whole-hearted surrender. Then in HIS strength we shall be stilled and watch the sovereign hand of GOD Almighty triumphantly transforming us every hour.
Amen and amen!
