With Measures of Depth (Forsaking the Shallow End)

Psalms 119:11 “I treasure YOUR WORD above all else; it keeps me from sinning against YOU.”

With Measures of Depth
(Forsaking the Shallow End)

The body decaying with age is in contrast to Sovereignty’s forms and designs for our lives.

Instead HE intended HIServants to grow through the choices they made with the passage of Time.

What irony then when these frames old and graying just nourishment seek from the milk of the WORD!

Although “giving attention” to every last verse still ‘tis less than a glance without depth where one learns.

So Self’s challenge is also extended to others; to all who are struggling with “aging” in life.

Embed yourselves fully in HIS written waves and embrace every page; diving deeply…with CHRIST!

As HIServant seeking fellow divers to lead me to deeper waters in JESUS,

Devotional: Iron sharpens Iron. Period. Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” So the tool used must itself be sharp to provide sharpening, yes?

To forge iron For a peculiar and specific purpose, it must first become mood; in a liquid state to be modified. Then, once it cools and hardens within the mold, it is ready to be crafted further.

By using a similarly or more hardened tool, we can then “sharpen” the target piece of iron until it is duplicated with the same purpose.

So comparatively, continued use of or consumption of the milk of the WORD, cannot grow someone to full potential. Like the iron example, only the stronger and deeper knowledgeable souls can “strengthen” the weak and teach about the meat of HIS WORD.

Hebrews 5:12 “You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about GOD’s WORD. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food!”

So! We are commanded to seek the deeper things of GOD and chew diligently on the meat rather than sticking with an occasional or even daily diet of milk.

This message is for all. Let’s consider the menu of our own lives. I understand the different diets but all the foods HE gave us serve a purpose. If a soul is new to CHRIST, their diet IS milk.

If a soul is older in CHRIST, our diet is to be a mixture of meat and milk, deep teachings and simple, heartfelt worship.

The newborn in CHRIST looks to us then who have claimed HIM for years…for our dietary routines.

But what is the undesired reality?

No teaching deeper than the Sunday school stories. Lukewarm leaning. Hungry solely for “Milk toast” or “Bible-lite” 24/7. Viewing those bible studies using any Hebrew/Aramaic or Greek as “extraneous/unneeded”…and so on.

But what are we told? What does the LORD instruct us to do? Search out the deeper things. How do we train up a child / newborn in The Way they should go?

By gaining more and more wisdom through daily study, learning new things to then share with those in “training” and being a Berean…one committed to zealous and continuing study of the Holy Scriptures.

Acts 17:11 “Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these teachings
were true.”

Therefore physical age is irrelevant compared to spiritual maturity. Paul tells Timothy not to let people despise or devalue his physical youth because of the spiritual content he, as iron sharpens iron, imparted to young Timothy.

1 Timothy 4:12 “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”

Dive deeply undaunted by the deception of the flesh which states that “surface level understanding is all you need”.

Dive deeply and thus avoid the shallow end of the pool full of surface Christians.

Dive deeply with CHRIST by WHOSE commands we are to do so into the very written WORD HE penned!

Dive deeply, both young and old, both newborn and mature…for such is the will of GOD for our lives.

Dive deeply, Beloved, for as I’ve often said, “It is the DEPTH of YOUR footprints which restrain us from slipping!”

Amen and amen!
