The Spoken WORD!

James 4:7 “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you!”

The Spoken WORD!

Held by fiery eyes and a will which exceeded all fear,

so the wooden staff stiffened in hand as its base struck the pavement.

Fatigued from his flight, yet he’d turned to fight Hell now — face forward!

Thus with Zeal’s adrenaline surging, he glared through the smoke.

For this chase had been stretched over thousands of battle-scarred miles.

Through his decades of fleeing lay charred and discarded ambitions!

Attacks and betrayals had jaded his heart but no longer!

Here he’d stand and be counted with those who no more would shrink back!

There his adamant stare sharply jarred every demon pursuing!

By his boldness thrust backwards, they staggered before spewing curses.

But the armor of GOD covered all of him without exception;

so each dart filled with fire fell harmlessly down to the asphalt.

With venomous hate, so the enemy merged into oneness.

Seething flames from its face, its contempt now stood raging above him!

Drawing up to the highest of heights, then expecting surrender,

so with fury it charged at the man who stood steadfast — unflinching!

With his staff again raising a shout beyond any known measure,

so the devil heard clearly what it had not known nor suspected!

Undaunted by sight, so the servant of CHRIST struck — most zealous…

as the battle worn branch broke the bridge which supported Hell’s champion!

With stunned visions of anger and terror entwining its body,

quickly plummeting downwards — incensed that the Christian spoken;

so Defeat chained itself to that evil which tried to o’erwhelm him.

For the LORD had surrounded that lamb! Thus his voice had awakened!

Standing over the Gap then the man raised his staff with great praises!

for he’d once again witnessed his SAVIOUR’s outstretched arm of Victory!

Although trembling within, still his confident words were rekindled…

…as CHRIST’s conquering power compelled his shout, “You shall not pass!”

As HIServant with HIS armor and strong staff to wage war with you…against the darkness,

Whitney

Devotional: 1 Peter 5:8-9 “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”

In the Lord of the Rings movies, the powerful white wizard Gandalf is running from a massive fire demon with his companions. Finally he turns to fight and on one side of a rocky bridge, he shouts “You shall not pass!”

Years go this image struck me as the act which we Christians must also exhibit with enduring Faith and relentless zeal!

Thus ongoing Faith is the continuous act of resisting the devil. Constant and enduring belief in our GOD and KING! There is no pause in this life, no break in the action, no moment where we can think that the battle is over. We must endure and press forward with a zealous verbal assault against the enemy!

Ephesians 6:10-12 “Finally, be strong in the LORD and in HIS mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of GOD so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

So stand! Shout at the devil! Trust in GOD’s Holy armor and sovereign staff! And if you’re not in the battle its because you’re still running FROM it!

I tell you, “Stand!” With the breath of the HOLY SPIRIT, rebuke the devil and he will and must flee from your presence. You will have to persevere and press into GOD’s mighty presence even hourly…but GOD! Deuteronomy 20:4 “For the LORD your GOD is the ONE WHO goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory!”

So stop running backwards nor from the enemy, Beloved! Rather! Romans 8:37 “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through HIM WHO loved us.” So take HIS staff and sword for we are more than conquerors forever in CHRIST!

Hallelujah! Amen and amen!
