Future Facing Faith!

Philippians 3:12 “Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because CHRIST JESUS has made me HIS own!”

Future Facing Faith!

Faith never blows in from the seashore

though it does come from trails — wind swept.

From invisible paths which GOD often redraws

from the sands of whatever — is left.

In like manner, few see the same roads or believe

they will ever be shown — future steps.

Since the way up ahead mirrors chapters unpenned,

its instructions lay silent — unread.

Sovereignly many have still joined the journey

through Darkness and Valleys — of Death.

Being faithfully drawn through impossible odds

so from CHRIST they receive — purest breath.

Then shall we, as well, pass through the Veil HE set

when HIS footprints lead finally — to Rest!

So press on through Life’s sandstorms and hear from GOD’s WORD

HIS directions till Heaven — comes next!

As HIServant waiting expectantly with face turned up to the Heavens,

Devotional: Ephesians 3:13-14 “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of GOD in CHRIST JESUS.”

Steadfast Faith isn’t found in unopened Bibles. It doesn’t reside in a lukewarm interest of CHRIST.

It’s non-existent in the lives of those who risk nothing for HIS NAME. It also is significantly absent in the hearts of those who view their Christianity on the same level as is going out to a ball game.

Meaning: It’s Time-valued and no more so than one’s favored entertainment. “I have the time, so I’ll go see it. I’m healthy, I can talk with folks and cheer on my interest.”

Perhaps that’s a bit blunt but it’s my honest opinion. I’ve watched fellow believers at sports events, working on personal hobbies and during worship as well as intense study.

For most any short term events, most people show up, energetic and on display. Cheering a team onward, watching a movie, grabbing dinner with friends; smiles, interest and zeal combine.

Everyone has a good time. The amount of time invested is just enough to keep things light and not too much to require any unwelcome or unwanted personal sacrifice of time, effort or money.

But long term events and activities with daily involvement require those things regularly. They require loss of sleep, comfort, time, money and much more.

Such passions are demonstrated in sports events of the season. Fantasy baseball, football, etc  all consume countless hours and months. But name the diversion. It’s all the same.

Regardless how “interesting” or “exciting” it is, the all demanding distraction (to be the best, to get ahead, to whatever) can’t justify the time spent.

As I preached last Sunday, there is no better ROI (Return on Investment) than digging in GOD’s WORD every single day…with great intent.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a FUTURE…and a hope.”

Then rather than camouflaging our hours spent away from CHRIST as “ministry-minded”; instead of labeling our earthly passions “on par” with the amount of focused study of our LORD and SAVIOUR, let’s call it for what it is.

Let’s name these other actions for what they are.

Destructive Distractions which entice so many into a lukewarm crawl somewhere near GOD. Not even a walk, just a lagging behind as a dragging of oneselves in the general direction of GOD.

BUT they all seem so socially just, so “necessary” and while we gather together as a Body, we are to be serving HIM on our own ALL the MORE SO.

Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to ME, ‘LORD, LORD,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of MY FATHER who is in heaven will enter. 22 “Many will say to ME on that day, ‘LORD, LORD, did we not prophesy in YOUR NAME, and in YOUR NAME cast out demons, and in YOUR NAME perform many miracles?’ 23“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’”

Consider also Luke 9:62 JESUS said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of GOD.”

“Looks back” is equal to looking sideways at all the waves in life. It’s truly equal to looking down to our own ways instead of Yahweh’s. It’s toeing the line and eyeing the ROI for us personally before our next act on the pseudo-social JESUS highwire.

NOW is the time to cast off the cares of this world, and any diluted activity which simply bears HIS NAME on the outside.

Beloved, the Hour is upon us to be awake, alive and attentive. How can any Christian claim otherwise? If our ears are filled with so many counteractive sounds, how then shall we clearly hear HIS still, small voice?

How is that so many are involved with “good deeds” but whose hearts barely know the scriptures? Whose diet is still nearly all milk?

With so many other paths demanding we CONTINUE to follow, how then will we visibly see HIS footprints and continue in them without delay or misstep?

“Future Facing Faith” is ours to exhibit for not only our own edification and encouragement but more importantly for others. The moment we are drawn through HIS veil will be joy extreme and know this, Beloved.

No other path gets you to Heaven and no other interest you now cling to…will keep you in HIS arms. Nothing and no one other than JESUS CHRIST.

Acts 1:11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same JESUS, WHO has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen HIM go into heaven.”

HE is near so look up without the glasses of this world! Without needless interruptions and diluted faith exercises, choose HIS way alone for your Future is NOW!

Amen and amen!
