James 1:19 “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger…”
In conversational dust, “All These” are found drowning…
just struggling up from Death’s bottomless throes. ***
Where grave words cast by few weighed them heavily down;
where their hearts — greatly burdened — laid low.
Dying then for more breath…
from the shadows to rise;
till the voice of the LORD drew their souls!
Thus to newness of Life and to Oxygen’s heights;
so CHRIST elevates Sight…to HIS throne!
Although then these waters, storm driven — chaotic;
though each pressing wave crash — unceasing….
It is GOD WHO both wills HIS control and compassion
to thread everything in this life
as HE’s pleased!
So watch every strand which your heart sews by speaking…
for you, as Root’s cause, may be drowning “All These!”
As HIServant reminded to speak into all,
Devotional: *** “Throes” is the word found at the end of verse one. It means “intense or violent pain and struggle, especially accompanying birth, death, or great change. For instance, “They struggled in apparent death throes.”
The well known verse often recited is Proverbs 18:21. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.”
Also consider James 3:6 “And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.”
And two verses later, James 3:8 “But no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.” And Verse 9 follows with “With it, we bless our LORD and FATHER, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of GOD.”
So when we are speaking to “All These!”…the very ones who GOD put into our lives to speak life into and we don’t…then! Then what error we permit!
What harm we cause others with wayward words…phrases which do not lift but rather — thrust down!
There are many other passages through HIS WORD which warn about speaking against our neighbors or strangers.
Taking ownership of task then, to restrain our speech, isn’t it our duty and responsibility as Christians…to guard our own lips? Yes, of course.
And although it is a great struggle at times to “but our own tongue” with such restraint…we owe it to our LORD GOD and “All These” in our lives to be so cautious.
Consider two more verses. Proverbs 17:27 “Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a calm spirit is a man of understanding.”
Such Knowledge and accompanying Faith are then displayed in Romans 10:17 “So then Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the WORD of GOD!”
Finally! Psalm 119:172 “My tongue will sing of YOUR WORD, for all YOUR commandments are right.”
Use every breath for speaking elevation and uplifting for I tell you the truth…there are souls!
Even “All These!” drowning right now…who desperately need HIS life preserving words flowing from
your lips, oh Self!
Amen and amen!
