Amos 8:7 “The LORD swears against the pride of Jacob, None of your works shall ever be forgotten.”
CHRIST’s Permanent Ink!
Before Calvary’s Grace,
only laws were applied.
Mercy was then at the
whim of each ruler.
Some might be purchased but cannot clear Conscience.
Thus such reprieves are found temporal at best.
Consequently when satan accuses us claiming “Permanent!” are all our stain-ridden scars…
his pride does betray him
as lying once more
for CHRIST’s blood washed
our sins all away.
With Humility, pray in the light of HIS cross!
and let not your heart
now become lifted up!
While bowing because of
the LORD’s cleansing power,
rest in knowing there are
no marks left!
So boldly approaching HIS throne with praise lifted,
know no accusation shall ever be heard!
Since HIS promise is certain, Sins’ no more our burden…
Sing your praise without end…to our SHEPHERD
and LORD!

Devotional: Now there’s two definitions for the pride of Jacob.
Only one fits the context of the chapter…which is very negative.
Yes, the LORD can swear by none other than HIMSELF. So from that standpoint, it’s true.
But the message is that Israel has sinned, is prideful and will be punished.
So for this study, we’re focused on the evils of pride.
Proverbs 8:13 states that GOD hates pride, arrogance, and evil ways.
Psalm 10:4 notes that in their pride, the wicked do not seek GOD and leave no room for HIM in their thoughts.
Proverbs 16:18 warns, “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall”.
James 4:6 writes that “GOD opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
Then the opening verse we started with in Amos should be very concerning to any lukewarm CHRISTian and every unbeliever.
Amos 8:7 “The LORD swears AGAINST the pride of Jacob, ‘None of your works shall ever be forgotten.’”
Note HE didn’t say that in the positive sense!
What would you do if given a vision or an audible word from GOD that said HE swore AGAINST your own pride?
Would that spark any different actions in your life?
So we thank GOD that our times of being prideful ARE forgiven by HIS sacrifice in our places!
But although HE remembers them no more, members of the flesh still do.
Even we remember! Eternally our false pride is purged, having been
paid for…
…but temporarily here on earth, satan maniacally
loves to remind us about all
of our failures.
And many a soul also love
to rehash and resurrect
things rather than realize
that their very own pride is
ever before GOD!
I don’t know who needs
to hear this as another reminder or brand new as
the Good News CHRIST
intended…
…But GOD!
HE NEVER lies! NEVER!
Your failures are gone, your sins are completely removed meaning… every scar, blemish and mark!
HIS promises are always true, HIS cleansing is always permanent and HIS love is always – endless!
Therefore sing every praise to THE KING!
Lift your worship to HIM without delay nor any less than your highest effort and volume, amen?
