Romans 12:9 “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of GOD, for it is written, “Vengeance is MINE, I will repay, says the LORD.”
Revenge’s Achilles Heel!
HE said, “It’s MINE!”
yet I linger.
Obsessing for justice…
in the here and the now…
more than “often”.
Still HIS words do not fail
nor fall…in no way!
HE is faithful and true!
Consequently, my choices
aren’t “open”.
So there is only GOD WHO
decides…yet I argue.
How long, oh LORD…
how long?
Then HIS WORD finds me
reading – Repentant!
No act outside YOUR sovereign
schedule shall prosper!
As such, I must linger
with patience awaiting YOUR perfect timing!
Else I’ll move ahead into Error without YOU…
and the worst place to stand
is outside of YOUR plans
…and mercy!

Devotional: Proverbs 20:22 “Do not say, “I will repay evil”; wait for the LORD, and HE will deliver you.”
The Achilles tendon can rupture at times and when it does, it’s extremely painful if not impossible to walk.
No rocket scientist’s or genius’ help is needed then to understand this part of GOD’s WORD.
Other parts I’ll never know this side of Heaven but this one is clear. GOD had the Israelites take out other countries and their armies.
But when HE didn’t go with them, and they still went…well, it was a disaster.
So no matter how wronged or offended we feel, taking things into our own hands without HIS guidance,
without HIS WORD backing up what we plan to do… “going it alone” ends in failure.
Although knowing this, still we get excited when we quote Psalm 94:1 .
“O LORD, GOD of vengeance, O GOD of vengeance, shine forth!”
But suffice to say that the Achillis heel of Revenge is then going ahead…without GOD.
It’s where we twist a scripture here or there to somehow fit a “payback” mission.
We’re not doormats…but we’re not GOD either. So let us be wise and patient stewards and wait upon the LORD!
Romans 12:17 “Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.”
