Proverbs 30:6 “Do not add to HIS words, or HE will rebuke you and prove you a liar.”
Keep telling the same old, old story both now and over again. That’s what we’re compelled to daily express, re-driven by sovereign instructions.
Though others want changes and bright entertainment, HIS message is truth — undiluted. It tickles no ear nor is driven by fear save of GOD WHOSE authority — proven.
So to those who erase, add and tear out HIS pages, is coming great judgement as written. Thus share only CHRIST, scripted here — black and white — with great reverence to what is in Crimson.
As HIServant reminded to carefully my own words and all that I write,
Devotional: Deuteronomy 4:2 “You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your GOD that I command you.”
This is cut and dry, even joyfully obvious. But what is done today in churches appears much more about adding activities, entertainments, and such. These “social additives” are entwined with HIS message to “attract the Lost” and be “seeker friendly”.
What’s that you say? It’s harder and harder to keep people‘ attention spans, to get them to come to church, to “get them interested”.
What? Are you claiming that as justification to dilute the Gospel? Such compromise makes the content which many a church sadly produces as IN-eatable…and often repeated weekly.
To shave off the sharp edges condemning of sin, to sand down the rough surfaces so people don’t feel uncomfortable in “our” church?
To the soul gasping for breath whom GOD has apprehended on their road to their own Damascus goals, HIS pure WORD sufficiently draws…just as HIS Grace!
We teach and preach in love but are not permitted to do so in a watered down way. We are commanded to guard the Truth in HIS WORD and not let translators diminish the sovereignty of GOD until folks think it’s still mostly up to them to get into Heaven or “earn” HIS favor.
1 Timothy 4:16 “Pay close attention to your life and to your teaching. Persevere in these things, for by so doing you will save both yourself and those who hear you.”
Again, very clear. We are not to dilute HIS WORD to get bench warmers in the seats. It’s become a “numbers game” to either take church-goers from other churches or to entice visitors to stay…or remain entertained enough.
GOD is everything to us and HE is eternally zealous for HIS WORD. Pity that few attempt to equal HIS zeal. Pity indeed.
Revelation 22:18 “I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, GOD will add to him the plagues described in this Book…”
If I have strayed in “adding” to HIS WORD, it is in one area and in punctuation. Specifically an exclamation point OF zeal.
Though it may not be in the text, GOD forgive me for adding it. My heart’s intent is only to increase your zeal and mine as well.
Treat the Bible as priceless and beyond worth for so it is. Carefully weigh your words, oh Self…so as not to claim CHRIST said or meant something HE did not.
Attract others by being honest with them. There are both soft and hard virtues of CHRIST. Both blessings and corrections. As such, oh my soul, choose blessing and leave HIS WORD — UNEDITED.
2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to show yourself as approved unto GOD, a workman that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing (discerning) the WORD (HIS Uneditable WORD) of Truth.”
Amen and amen.
