Feather-Threaded Rest

Proverbs 3:24 “When you lie down, you will not be afraid. When you rest, your sleep shall be peaceful.”

Feather-Threaded Rest

May Slumber sing a melody of rest and resignation with the voice our LORD created for HIS praises.

Yes, those vocal chords uniquely formed by hands which held our nails; WHO was pierced for all our faults and tore the Veil.

Now may CHRIST HIMSELF recline you; oh that HE would intervene with Sovereign silence!

Then quietly GOD’s presence shall your restless heart enfold; until asleep beneath HIS feathers rests your soul!

As HIServant praying for your soulful sleep,

Whitney

Devotional: Psalms 17:8 “Keep me as the apple of YOUR eye; hide me in the shadow of YOUR wings!”

Good dreams are hard to come by for many. Even slumber uninterrupted, absent of visions, is challenging to “fall into”. So to experience sweet sleep without nightmares and to awake fully rested is for many more, beyond reach.

So we must focus on CHRIST’s face (instead of the waves) to begin to embrace such serenity. But even such direct attention bears no transactional guarantee that “If I do A, then B happens”.

For instance, we do believe and cry out for healing for others. I have seen great, miraculous and unmerited healing from HIS hands. I have seen others in more visible service, who I admire for their steadfast faith, that never got well.

We do pray unceasing and believe without wavering but it’s like 1 Corinthians 3:6 “I have planted, Apollos watered; BUT GOD gave the increase!”

For instance, she went to the hospital, the doctor operated but any and all healing and health improvements came solely from CHRIST.

We know from experience not every Christian who cries out in full faith believing isn’t healed immediately or sometimes at all.

What says too many a “fellow believer”? “Well, you just didn’t have enough faith! TRY HARDER, believe deeper, press in even closer!

Rubbish and nonsense! Tell me, when Paul begged CHRIST to take away his thorn in the flesh, was he healed of the problem?

In one word, “Nyet!” Whether “Nyet”, “Nada!” or simply “No!”, we must realize there is another factor at work which must be acknowledged…even surrendered to.

That’s HIS sovereignty. He told Paul that instead of healing him, Paul would need to surrender to the fact that CHRIST’s grace is sufficient.

HIS timing is perfect and regardless of how stupid it seems, how pointless the years and tears of pain….HE works all things together for our good.

Isaiah 26:3 YOU will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in YOU.”

So we must pray for wisdom and rest in a two-fold fashion. First, that whatever HIS will is, we WILL ACKNOWLEDGE and praise HIM for HIS mercies and grace. HIS has the right to use our vessels as HE sees fit. HE created us so that’s HIS choice.

Romans 9:20 “But rather, O man, who are you, answering against GOD? Shall the soul formed say to the ONE WHO formed it, “Why have YOU made me like this?”

It’s not what we want to hear. It doesn’t remove our pains and heal us. BUT! This knowledge allows us to avoid the Tyranny of the Ideal. It allows us to avoid the “comparative faith” lie. “

“Well, Sally REALLY believed and was healed instantly. So you need to believe LIKE her!” (Sadly shaking my head every time I hear this foolishness.)

What rest is there when the sanctimonious and self – righteous without any visible pains or suffering attack the Body from within? How is HIS message then “Good News” if my old nature can always screw up in some tiny way and always keep me from being healed?

Psalm 91:1 “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.”

Accept then the fact that HE sovereign creates our frames uniquely. Exodus 4:11 “The LORD said to him, Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?”

The blind man HE healed was middle aged before CHRIST touched him. John 9:2. And we read that it wasn’t sin or lack of belief that kept him blind.

It was HIS sovereign will. John 9:3 reads “JESUS answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the works of GOD would be displayed in him.”

GOD’s impeccable timing that a decades old man would be healed by HIM during a specific moment during HIS earthly ministry. So it relates to our own flesh the same way.

Arguing for “fairness” comparative to others or daily believing that we have done something so terrible that GOD “won’t” heal us…is foolish thinking.

Serve HIM with gladness then to the very best of your ability because our rewards come from how we used our gifts…not if we “did enough” to squeak into Heaven.

Jeremiah 31:25-26 “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint. At this I awoke and looked around. My sleep had been pleasant to me!”

Ah, the Truths of GOD! Rest, Beloved, for HE is at the door and soon both soul and new spiritual body shall be one in ONE! YEHSHUA! Feather-Threaded and Sovereign-centric resting in our LORD and SAVIOUR, JESUS!

Hallelujah! Thank YOU, oh GOD, for granting sweet sleep to us, even now as we pause in Slumber still praising THEE!

Amen and amen!
