Cross-examining the Pharisee…in You

Romans 11:5-6 “Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.”

Cross-examining the Pharisee in You

(“Why are you still one of them?”)

With Grace came Forgiveness which could not be purchased. No effort nor money could buy Calvary’s blessing.

No soul can add to it, though countless still try, yet the “Why?” still escapes me. What didn’t CHRIST pay?

Let us cease then comparing the cleansing HE bought for our
souls with another’s. There’s
no “other” version!

So rest in HIS Grace breathing life through the Body as one
just like them! We are equally pardoned!

As such, no dividing line separates Christians. But to
whom much forgiveness is giv’n, love the more!

Cast off the Pride of the Pharisees quickly; returning to be — by HIS mercies — outpoured!

As HIServant forgiven much,

Devotional: With every religion there is an expected service in order to earn rescue.

But in Christianity, though ours is a relationship with HE WHO created, bought and paid for,
and yet lives for us…this humanistic, self-saving, false expectation still exists.

Why it does is because our nature is to try and earn things. Whether stature, position, money, etc. Sadly this most errantly carries over into our Faith.

Did you know there aren’t “better” or “more worthy” Christians because HIS grace sees us as equally cleansed, equally whole and all by HIS finished work on the cross?

It’s true that HE is no respecter of persons. All of have sinned and fallen short without HIS choice to rescue us…and HIS blood’s payment alone completely suffices in full our sin debt!

But what about our desire to earn Redemption? Here’s how it fails and here’s what it’s called. LAW. You see, only with LAW can I measure you.

Only with LAW can I say I’m better than, serve more than, sin less than and am loved greater…than you.

As such, CHRIST fulfilled all the LAW by HIMSELF. Enter HIS Grace so amazing and incomparable! This wondrous truth is what compels us to serve in love with all our heart, mind, soul and strength.

But as wonderful as this FACT is which gives HIM all the glory, many do not want to accept it. Pride is a loathsome participant in oppressing the Body like the Pharisees always did.

They even made up LAWS to further and illegally weigh down the Body! GOD clearly hates pride so how
can one focus upon it (in the realm of our walk with HIM) and then administer their form “justice”…as though they ARE HIM?

It just gets worse and worse the farther we fall from grace…back to LAW.

So I ask us ALL this question. Why are you such a Pharisee? Before any takes offense, I’m asking us all. Clearly our old nature which we wrestle with hourly as Paul pointed out in Romans 7:24.

“Oh wretched man that I am, who shall save me from this burden of Death?”

He WAS a Pharisee by the very title and had the pedigree and upbringing to boast about it.

Philippians 3:4b-6 “If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless.”

And CHRIST HIMSELF said in Matthew 5:20 that unless our own righteousness exceeded that of the LAW-loving Pharisees…we can’t enter Heaven! The LAW the. CHRIST fulfilled and Sin’s full punishment for us fell entirely upon HIM!

It’s wondrous Grace which compels us to serve HIM relentlessly instead of hiding behind some made-up, “license to sin”!

So you and I are BOTH Pharisees when we pretend our righteousness is better than someone else’s for whom CHRIST died!

Seek to do HIS will with Zeal and extreme passion. Truly accept and realize that sin’s slate is eternally cleansed by CHRIST alone! It’s not for refilling with our applications of LAW against others…nor our own soul.

As such, misapplying “more grace / hyper-grace” to ourselves while condemning others for “different sins”…is a devilish matter.

So stop being a unloving Pharisee to yourself and others. Fire yourself from any such role; walking in and living by HIS matchless Grace.

Amen and amen!
