Psalm 51:7 “Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”
HIS Spotless Snow!
The filth of the world’s offscouring;
may it not come nigh unto us.
For we trust in THY cleansing of Crimson and rest in the strength of YOUR love.
Though sin’s stains seem indelibly set, YOUR blood overwhelms every one!
Thus, as GOD’s only SON, so we trust THEE…to shield us from selfish impressions.
Yes! From where we mar Self without help; those marks which bear errors we chose.
So filled with thanksgiving, we lift up our hearts because YOU cleansed us whiter…than snow!
As HIServant grateful beyond words for HIS crimson cleansing,
Devotional: Proverbs 20:9 “Who can say, “I have cleansed my heart, I am pure from my sin”?”
“Self staining” is a rhetorical concept meaning its explanation is in the words used. The Law-centric soul tells us to “Clean up our act!” and “Give, do and believe more” so that we can become acceptable to GOD.
But the old nature, our flesh, cannot be cleansed. It is incurably wicked. It does not and can not accept or please GOD. As such, every self cleaning method is flawed! Consider Matthew 23:26.
“You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that the outside of it may become clean also.”
The heart is the reference here and only CHRIST can purify our hearts and souls! Solely HIM!
Reflect upon Job 4:17 “Can mankind be just before GOD? Can a man be pure before his MAKER?
NOT in a vacuum! Not on our own! Not CHRIST’s 99% and our 1% for by even the tiniest of self cleansing assumptions and percentages…we make HIS perfect substitution — imperfect.
Our blood CANNOT be added to HIS Cross! Any such endeavor pollutes HIS gift with the filth of the flesh and the world’s offscouring.
Offscouring Definition: Someone outcast from society or something scraped off as worthless.
Synonyms: chaff, deadwood, debris, dross, dust, garbage, junk, litter, offal, raffle, refuse, riffraff, rubbish, scrap, trash, truck, waste.
So! Instead of holding foolishly onto the delusion of self righteousness, we cling rather to Psalm 51:10 and the knowledge of HIS finished work which has forever made us whiter than snow!
“Create in me a clean heart, O GOD, and renew a steadfast spirit within me!”
Amen and amen!
