Isaiah 55:8 “For MY thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways MY ways,” declares the LORD.”

With Sifting most Sovereign

Wanton abuse is most wretched a plague found surrounding material things and their hosts.

Flaunting such greed as their choice of disease, so these err as they please without thought.

But our needs are supplied as HE chooses. Thus the filter is HIS which bars needless requests.

Even carelessly seek we suppliers who refuse to protect us like GOD.

So review each petition — most zealous! Cast off all which direct our attentions below,

where the waves force our frames into sinking…till, at last, we cling just to HIS Cross.

Only there can one see what is needed: Only there sought through prayer will such clarity come!

So! JUST for GOD’s perfect, good pleasure, cry out…

for HIS sifting exceeds every want!

As HIServant thankful with HIS perfect provisions,

Whitney

Devotional: Philippians 4:19 “But my GOD shall supply all your needs according to HIS riches in glory by CHRIST JESUS.”

Humanly defining what one needs is like choosing a stock without any research. It’s like decidingwhat will be necessary to get from the grocery store but driving past it to get to automotive shop…all the while thinking you’re at the right place.

Additionally we tend to, with near exclusivity, not “need” any painful encounters or broken roads nor fractured experiences regarding our physical, mental or any other state.

Loss or Subtraction (from Comfort and Gain) aren’t items we earnestly seek for on the shelf. In fact, we avoid that aisle all together and even that whole side of the store.

But make no mistake. HIS transforming us into HIS image requires sculpting subtractions and frequent removals. That’s par for the course, a “given” fact and a spiritual truth we must lean into.

Consider Philippians 4:11-12 “But I said it, not because I had need, because I have learned that whatever I have will be enough for me. I know how to be humbled, I know also what it is to abound; I am trained in everything and in all things, in fullness and in hunger, in excess and in poverty…”

…”trained in everything”…hunger and poverty too. Training! Do we know what it’s like to truly “hunger and thirst after righteousness”? Consider carefully Matthew 5:6!

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

Our blessing comes from a focused zeal and an intense passion for the WORD of GOD and for drawing closest to HIM, the ONLY Store we truly need to go to several times a day! AND!!

Philippians 3:8 “What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing CHRIST JESUS my LORD, for WHOSE sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain CHRIST.”

So choose for us our “things”, oh GOD! Rather than use our own inadequate measures for what’s most valuable, teach us YOUR ways and grant us wisdom to window shop with the world and “purchase only” from THY hands!

Fill us hourly with YOUR presence oh LORD…and we shall be filled without want of any other!

Amen and amen!
