Psalms 100:3 “Know that the LORD is God. It is HE WHO made us, and we are HIS; we are HIS people, the sheep of HIS pasture!”
Into HIS Everlasting Arms!
The lamb quickly bounded
beyond outstretched arms.
Yet with base, detached thought, it knew not their intent.
They seemed bent on capture;
restraining all movement.
Yet why this was so as their goal…
Then suddenly lifted to Heaven above
so the lamb felt the hands of its Shepherd and LORD!
To HIS shoulders then carried away from the dangers
to safety which had not been “needed” till now.
Thus rescuing us, HIS heart carries our own;
not as “black sheep” but chosen, cleansed solely by CHRIST!
So learn in HIS arms, oh my soul, to run TO HIM!
and lean on them endlessly! Yea, beyond Time!
As HIServant in HIS loving arms with you,
Devotional: Isaiah 53:6 “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD has laid on HIM the iniquity of us all.”
It’s not surprise announcement that we are flesh and that we sin in thought and in deed. It’s no grand revelation then that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of GOD.
So off we run in the ways we want to go and astray from the LORD, our Shepherd. But HIS love and HIS presence doesn’t leave us! Consider the following verse.
Luke 15:4 “”Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?”
This is a beautiful picture proof that JESUS knows us and never lets us wander outside of HIS sovereign hands. It also shows me three wonderful truths.
We’re HIS Beloved, the Sheep of HIS pasture.
The text shows us that the Lost lamb was already IN HIS pasture. Don’t miss that beautiful fact! The lamb has gone astray and was brought back. When HE said HE had come to seek and to save those which were Lost, HE clearly shows that HE’s would be RETURNING them to HIS fold and HIMSELF, the Bishop and Shepherd of our souls.
2) HE corrects, draws and brings us back in love!
Now the routine then was that the Shepherd would bind up or break one of the legs of the wayward sheep HE came after. This is HIS loving correction which we often mistake as HIS anger. But what do we read?
Proverbs 3:12 “For the LORD corrects those HE loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.” “Loves” us and “Delights” in us. That’s not in Anger, hallelujah!
3) HE doesn’t view as the “black sheep” or “outcasts” of HIS flock!
HE doesn’t just forgive but not “forget”. Colossians 1:21-23 “21 And you, being once alienated and hostile in mind, in the evil deeds, 22 but now HE has reconciled in HIS body of flesh through death, to present you holy and unblemished and blameless before HIM, 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, established and firm, and not being moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, having been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, of which I Paul have become a minister.”
“Holy, unblameable and unreproveable!” “Holy, unblemished and blameless!” Because of HIS finished work AND!
We SHALL continue in HIM because we are HIS! HE will not let any force take us from HIS hands. We are family as sons and daughters for whom HE lovingly cares and corrects! We are Spotless, no longer darkened by sins stains!
Isaiah 40:11 “HE tends HIS flock like a shepherd: HE gathers the lambs in HIS arms and carries them close to HIS heart; HE gently leads those that have young.”
Heavenly FATHER, thank YOU for the gift of YOUR SON, JESUS! Thank YOU for giving us as gifts from YOUR hands to HIS as we read of in John 17:24! We praise YOUR holy NAME for holding us close to YOUR heart and bidding us to forever lean on your everlasting arms! Lead, guide and direct our every step this day, oh GOD! Come quickly as we serve THEE, with expectant hearts and minds, eager to see THEE, our glorious and perfect SHEPHERD — face to face!
Isaiah 46:4 “Even to your old age I will be the same, And even to your graying years I will bear you! I have done it, and I will carry you; And I will bear you and I will deliver you!
Amen and amen!
