Uniquely Finishing!

1 Corinthians 9:24 “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way as to take the prize.”

Uniquely Finishing!

With a solemn surrender of prayer made in silence,

thus uplifted on knees which are calloused and scarred…

from a heart as yet broken with hands bruised and bleeding,

well known then this soul as my own in HIS arms!

But with CHRIST! Hallelujah! HE sees me so wholly. Unbroken, unbruised and complete in HIS presence!

Now remembering Grace is HIS gifting — sufficient…

so shall I continue to serve though constrained.

For this life HE designed! Some with cords binding movement

While others— HIS chains — draw with purpose for soaring.

Both equals — uniquely —  to serve then aligned with

their burdens of blessing for which they were born!

Thus our gaze must not mirror the choice made by Peter…

for our focus must stay on HIS path…straight ahead!

Whether “bound” or released then, HIS will for each vessel…

is measured alone by the range HE assigned!

As HIServant “constrained” for those tasks HE crafted uniquely for my soul,

Devotional: Hebrews 12:1-2 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every encumbrance (Obstacle or Hindrance) and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance the race set out for us. 2 Let us fix our eyes on JESUS, the Pioneer and Perfecter of our faith, (The Author and Finisher) who for the joy set before HIM endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of GOD. “

Running the race. Running our own race for the LORD without competition. Yes, it does say that only one winner gets the prize. But the following part of the verse, in my opinion, points to running as hard as and with as much zeal as the one who would be given the victory.

We aren’t to be striving next to others in church to get ahead of them. Then the focus would be on them, the competition and ourselves COMPARED to them. That’s not the heart of these verses.

Zeal and passion can be fully displayed by the fastest runner and those who may be bedridden. The “race” is about us growing in GOD’s grace (and delivering it to others) where our efforts are completely spent in HIS service.

There is no implied nor specific “greeter only position” that one might shrink back to in order to “squeak” by into Heaven. These verses clearly call us to “run” meaning live for GOD with every fiber of our being. With whatever effort we have in us, pour out the giftings within without hesitation!

The first two verses of Hebrews 12 point this out. HE articulates clearly that each race is then one which is set specifically FOR us. There are a “great cloud of witnesses” but we aren’t competing with them.

Rather we are encouraged BY them to give it our all, to press in and not back and to live zealously and urgently, for we see the Day (at HIS Hour) quickly approaching.

It’s been hard to stay focused when my body aches. Whenever I can’t do what I used to or be able to “run with endurance” like others who are around me. Rather! Rest in the fact that HE measures according to the heart!

Pour out your praise of HIM faithfully and with zeal! My wife reads and listens to the WORD of GOD for hours daily and studies. She didn’t choose to wear the cloak of Fibromyalgia but that’s where GOD has her for now. So, she faithfully puts her time and attention to JESUS as well as our family. She “runs” then with great passion, intention and purpose. I am her greatest admirer!

We see that CHRIST endured the Cross for “the Joy set before HIM”. HE did what HE was sent to do which was to redeem HIS own! What a priceless effort that no one else could make. No one else could come anywhere near to even the smallest portion of what JESUS paid.

So we “run with endurance” in every action and word…for the LORD our GOD and KING! We press forward to the mark of HIS high calling which we read of in Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of GOD in JESUS CHRIST!”

Therefore measure yourselves to yourselves. Where were you yesterday in CHRIST and where are you today? Be found “moving” with great intensity for the LORD our GOD watches over us…looking for those whose HEARTS…are bent towards HIM as such!

2 Corinthians 16:9a “For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to HIM…”

Hallelujah! HE sees all! Go Forth then, even now!

Amen and amen!
