Acts 13:52 “And the disciples were continually filled with joy and with the HOLY SPIRIT!”
Upping Our Intake!
(For More of YOUR SPIRIT!)
Longing for more of YOUR SPIRIT, oh LORD; We are craving Outpouring‘s o’erflowing.
Expectant beyond what this life has to offer…for Good without Fearful’s foreboding.
So rekindle Faith’s flames by YOUR NAME and YOUR breath;
LORD, the joy of Salvation restoring!
As when first we inhaled the gift of new Life; please grant me such heights, so rewarding!
Then YOUR mountain-top air shall surround me…with these words in my prayers being clearest;
translated and known just by THEE, so please fill me…with more of THY breath, HOLY SPIRIT!
As HIServant daily praying for HIS breath to o’erwhelm us afresh,
Devotional: Luke 1:41”When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the HOLY SPIRIT.”
When we move closer to GOD, aligned closely with The Translator of our prayers, (through groanings and utterings which we cannot hear), then leaping and rejoicing occur! As we press into HIS presence, unchained from false, emotional highs…we are indeed lifted up!
Job 33:4 “The SPIRIT of GOD has made me, And the breath of the ALMIGHTY gives me life.”
I used this verse as a reference a few days ago as well and it is equally fitting here. HE made us by HIS SPIRIT and as The Almighty HE breathed life into our vessels.
Ezekiel 36:27 “I will put MY SPIRIT within you and cause you to walk in MY statutes, and you will be careful to observe MY ordinances.”
What blessing that HE course- corrects and redirects us so that we avoid HIS prolonged, spiritual adjustments!
Little wonder then that Isaiah echoes this clearly in Isaiah 61:1!
“The SPIRIT of the LORD GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; HE has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners…”
So “Upping Our Intake!” for more of HIS SPIRIT requires closer, daily communication with HIM. To be greater filled, we must be more humbly poured out. To dive deeper with JESUS, we must be faithful through all the shallow waters.
Philippians 3:3 “…for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the SPIRIT of GOD and glory in CHRIST JESUS and put no confidence in the flesh…”
Where spiritual drowning happens in this life, even in shallow waters of comfort, it’s because there exists an errant and misplaced confidence in our own flesh. So as John reminds us all in John 3:30, “HE must increase and I must decrease!”
Therefore! We must decline and surrender our pride in complete subjection and obedience to CHRIST. We must serve, preaching and teaching HIS Truths and the Gospel…even through persecution and opposition. Consider the following in 1 Peter 4:14.
“If you are reviled (persecuted) for the NAME of CHRIST, you are blessed, because the SPIRIT of glory and of GOD rests on you.”
So for the joyous rest in CHRIST with the comfort and blessing of The HOLY SPIRIT, we must be willing participants in “the fellowship of HIS sufferings.” Philippians 3:10.
Come then, HOLY SPIRIT! Move in us as we greater concede our lives to THEE. Amen and amen!
