With Blossoms of Crimson!

Song of Solomon 2:1-2 “”I am the rose of Sharon, The lily of the valleys.” “Like a lily among the thorns, So is my darling among the maidens.”

With Blossoms of Crimson!

Red flowers adorned the stone table before her…their fragrance as strong as the color they bore:

Cut freshly and stripped of the thorns which once warned her

of pains should great Caution be somehow ignored.

So without slivers stabbing her hands then, with haste, she enveloped their dozens with welcoming arms.

Enraptured with all of her senses ignited, she felt Heaven’s roses expand into gardens!

Then looking below to the “table” of granite now emptied of flowers save three, perhaps four…

There stains, known as Crimson, reflected towards her…from Calvary’s hill which once held our LORD’s cross!

This memorial tribute with wondrous scents which had been brought here from Sharon’s most vibrant plains…

sparked within her great Hope by The WORD which HE spoke! “I AM HE WHO has cleansed you and shall come again!

As HIServant blessed by Calvary’s wondrous aroma,

Whitney

Devotional: What a beautiful picture this is to me! In verse 1, the bride is still speaking, referring to herself as a rose (though also translates “crocus” in Isaiah 35:1). But the BRIDEGROOM in verse 2 calls her unique and special, a lily among thorns!

HE sees us graciously THROUGH HIS crimson outpouring and, like the roses which the Bride is picking up, HE took the thorns FOR us! Our sins scarred CHRIST’s hands instead!

So lift up HIS WORD and embrace the still vibrant, sweet savors of HIS sacrifice for us, HIS Bride!

Amen and amen!
