Psalms 27:13 “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living!
Walking up the steps confronting — every fire of faithless Fear,
bound solely for the WORD of GOD WHOSE NAME their souls revered;
so those chosen for departure from Life’s final, fleeting breath
prepared their hearts to meet the LORD WHOSE path they followed.
Though the present hour tormenting — forced their backs against the walls
of their circumstances burning — till as martyrs they would fall,
still pressing in HIS presence were their souls united surely;
believing if HE willed…then they would see tomorrow.
Then at the last of seconds as none intervened — protecting
when their lives would be relinquished for the journey up to Heaven;
there stood HE in their flames within the land of this, the living!
So with equal expectations, live for CHRIST WHO is…in you!
As HIServant ever thankful that HIS presence is always present,
Devotional: Psalms 27:14 “Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, and HE shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!”
These two verses in Psalms 27 highlight the now well known experience that Shadrach, Meshach and Abendego had in Daniel Chapter 3. Please read the passage if you haven’t before as HIS WORD will bring life to these words.
It wasn’t until the last of the last seconds that GOD intervened sending ONE WHO “looked like the Son of GOD” into the fire to protect these three, faithful witnesses.
GOD displays order and precision and, as such, HIS timing was perfect. For this account, HE saved them from the fire. Now the three men had told the wicked king that GOD was able to save BUT even if HE chose not to….they wouldn’t bow down to the gold idol.
Now we face trials and tribulations in this life and some are life and death matters. But the point here is to compare their faithful responses with our own.
In the face of extreme adversity, in the presence of overwhelming odds where we cannot rescue, heal or deliver ourselves, is the answer of our lips readied?
Even if YOU choose differently, LORD, we won’t fall nor surrender to faithless fears. Should YOU be calling a loved one home or even ourselves, we choose to reply in Faith as Shadrach, Meshach and Abendego.
Abraham believed GOD was able to keep HIS promises. When told to sacrifice his son Isaac, the miracle child of promise, he counted GOD faithful to even raise Issac from the dead. Hebrews 11:19 “Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and in a sense, he did receive Isaac back from death.”
Since we have this confidence also in CHRIST and not in our flesh, live with equal expectations in the power, faithfulness and timing of our LORD GOD in this…the land of the living!!
Amen and amen!
