Purging Portals
Handles turned by one’s choice
opens doors. Thus granting access to rooms or other areas, it’s easy to see how the illusion of self-control could be adopted as reality.
One then believes by their own strength that such a portal is unlocked or closed at their own direction. At their whim.
But, my friend! The illusion of self control, being apart from GOD’s convicting, indwelling HOLY SPIRIT, actually more resembles a delusion. In this state, the inadequacy of self is much more clearly seen.
Proverbs 24:10 says “If you faint in the day of distress, how small is your strength!”
So when some go to close a door leading to error and find great pressure against that portal being closed, sadly many such souls are shocked.
There’s pushback. That’s because there’s two sides to each gateway. Our flesh and the darkness as well want every self serving portal to no even have a door.
This deadly duo demand
unfettered access and unrestrained entry with unblocked pathways to any and all error.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge HIM, and HE will make straight your paths.
As such, when the HOLY SPIRIT convicts us of these demonically used avenues, the darkness grabs our flesh and tells it to join in pushing that door back open.
It’s the worthy “cost” of being a Christian, of being HIS child.
Consider Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the complete armor of GOD for you to be able to stand against the schemes of the devil…”
Consider that HE intentionally and directly tells us to be prepared for what?
Battle.
“Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war…” You know the song. Taking up our cross and following HIM WHO has already won our battle!
Therefore the battle itself proves our wrestling within…our old and new natures fighting and spiritually drawing on other forces as well.
Now the next verse, Ephesians 6:12. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Why do we have to zealously guard the gates into our hearts and minds every hour? Because there is constant pushback.
Until CHRIST returns to carry us home, that war feels like it’s “never-ending”, doesn’t it? So to intentionally limit the skirmishes and fights against HIS presence within us, we need to walk away from the enemies camps.
“Birds of a feather flock together” and bad company breeds what? Bad company.
Yes we go out to the Lost in countless, darkened arenas but! We do not go alone, we do not go unarmed and we do not go without the full armor of GOD!
Therefore, do not battle needlessly by waking foolishly and unprotected…into enemy territory.
Pray relentlessly and together with other zealous believers and wage battle wherever and whenever called upon.
But weld those doors shut which are not of GOD. Permanently close every gateway which compromises your walk and leads you even one step off of CHRIST’s lighted paths.
Yes, purge those portals from your view which detract from HIS NAME and you’ll see that not only had HE already won the war for us…but you’ll observe HIS favor and goodness in this, the land of the living.
Psalms 27:13 “13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living!”
