Psalm 83:1 “Song, a Psalm of Asaph. O GOD, do not remain quiet; Do not be silent and, O GOD, do not be still.”
HIS Silent Voice

Silence is…neither golden nor absent for it is a void as well as a substance.
Even so, we more often experience it as the latter.
Examination follows our quite limited perceptions. Then! Finally Action occurs. Yet all the while — the stillness is a constant companion.
Yet the silence of the LORD is deafening compared to any other! Still, HE does so in a most victorious way for us to wait on HIS voice!
Wait then with confidence for HE WHO spoke the Universe into existence compels it’s very life by HIS will.
And! HE WILL “speak” to you in due season…perhaps even through Silence!

Devotional: Psalm 83:1 “Song, a Psalm of Asaph. O GOD, do not remain quiet; Do not be silent and, O GOD, do not be still.”
I remember back to the old cliché which I learned being a child. Whenever we were making noise in the house, mom would say “Use your quiet voice!”
But being a young child, I didn’t regularly employ my quiet voice nor did I regularly listen to my mom’s quiet voice.
But GOD has one!
1 Kings 19:11-12 “Then HE said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake;
12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire, (came HIS) a still, small voice.”
So God was not shouting through the storms or the fire or the earthquakes to get Elijah‘s attention. He gave the 3 comparisons of chaos and then he created the substance of silence. And then he spoke.
As I’ve gotten older, quietly reading HIS WORD has prepared me more so to hear HIS voice. Not the big flashy noisy “can’t miss it” kind but the still, small, “directed to me” type.
As such, my perspective has changed as I’ve grown in faith to walk by Faith and not by the greatest sound.
And spoken to self most of all, HIS sovereign power over all as our CREATOR requires my complete surrender.
“WORD of GOD, Speak!”
Amen and amen!
