Proverbs 3:11 My child, despise not the
chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of HIS correction…”
The Parenting Book!

Parents draw offspring with voices of Guidance. With physical strength at
times fully restraining…
…protecting their steps from Life’s dangers surrounding. So too our GOD moves in like manner.
As such, these hands guiding my own precious children…remember the grace that HE keeps giving me.
Thus affections of Comfort but also tough love; both HE uses for gifts and corrective direction.
So we must wisely pass along GOD’s sovereign wisdom…seen all throughout Scripture and meant for us too!
As HIServant bent on learning, using, sharing and retaining HIS Wisdom,
Whitney
Devotional: Proverbs 3:12 “For whom the LORD loves HE corrects; even as a father the son in whom he delights.”
Tough words to readily accept, to be certain. But GOD created family to raise their offspring in HIS ways, not according to their likes or dislikes.
Luke 6:46 “Why do you call me ‘LORD, LORD,’ and not do what I tell you?”
Now no one likes correction but it is priceless in helping us stay on HIS perfectly narrow Way. So in whom do we place our Faith, Hope and Trust?
Proverbs 3:5-7 Trust in the LORD with
all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge HIM, and HE shall direct your paths.”
7 Be not wise in your own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.”
Why?? Because the opposite of GOD’s loving correction will find one left to their own wisdom and their own flawed devices and opinions.
Romans 1:24 Therefore GOD gave
them over in the lusts of their hearts
to impurity, so that their bodies would
be dishonored among them.”
Look at the sum of the parent. Do they do well, mean we’ll, have followed CHRIST daily, shows love, etc.? Then the correction given is thought out, not random, meant for the child’s long term good.
When one continually takes offense at correction, they’re ultimately rejecting GOD’s correction and training.
Look at GOD! How often have each of
us been corrected?
Do we then blame GOD for the ways HE chooses when we won’t listen for awhile until HE takes a blunt and really direct approach?
Children often miss the big picture and as parents desiring them to serve GOD and their own families in the future, we press often from “comforting suggestions” to “tough love”.
Heed then, oh Parent, to the guiding voice and hand of GOD!
Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Heed then, oh Child because your life’s experiential wisdom is much shorter due to youth.
Ephesians 6:1-3 “Children, obey your parents in the LORD, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: 3 that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise…”
Heed everyone, the directions HE wrote for every parent and child!
So what do we all need to listen and act correctly?
Proverbs 3:13-14 “Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding.
For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.”
GOD’s parenting book doesn’t have a “spare the rod” verse but instead HE
does say to both serve and correct…
in HIS love.
What gain greater than goldHIS WORD is to read …and obey quickly!
Amen and amen!
