Best Bound, Well Surrounded!

Psalm 139:5 “YOU have enclosed me behind and before, and laid YOUR hand upon me.”

Best Bound, Well Surrounded!

LORD, leave this thorn within me
with this flesh of mine — still plagued;
Lest forgetting — I continue in those
ways where Flesh has led!

Oh GOD! Permit me this
having “course-less” gone too often
without YOUR guiding hand or steps!
So lost am I — without YOU!

But when divine constraints
within my frame begin to rise…
then by Pain am I reminded
that I’m meant to follow CHRIST!

So! Leave these thorns within me
for by such this fool gains Wisdom.
Yea, it speaks aloud with Zeal so
I pray “Please keep me bound!”

Yes, LORD! Heal someone else
who’ve — all the world’s ways ignored —
for then YOUR Joy shall well surround me and transform this heart…the more!

As HIServant grateful for HIS chains which grant me greater freedoms,

Whitney

Devotional: 1 Corinthians 7:22 “For he who was called in the LORD being a bondservant is the LORD’s free man. Likewise he who was called being free is CHRIST’s bondservant.”

How many of us are as Paul when he asked GOD to remove a thorn from his flesh?

How many of us can quickly pause to see the training behind such transforming obstacles?

AND! It’s easier — MUCH easier — said than done. This we ALL know well.

James 1:2 is that well known verse that many of us in daily pain just can’t gloss over with blind faith or rapid acceptance.

“ Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds…”

But this reminder is for us all in the midst of our own private pains and struggles. There IS great purpose for each servant of the Almighty!

For me it sunk in deepest, to date anyway, when I surrendered to not yet knowing the purpose but having faith that someday soon HE will.

Extreme hurt which causes anguish day to day ISN’T something anyone casts aside as irrelevant to their lives.

As a phrase I heard in a movie about
such physical trials, “Pain demands to
be heard!” It’s never easy to push to the
back burner nor should it be ignored.

Even so, it’s taking the pains of THIS DAY and the PRESENT HOUR and holding them up in light of HIS sovereign constraint.

Is this for Correction or simple redirection or a “means to an alternative end” that GOD uses to truly change and transform others?

Tim reminded us on Sunday of Joni Erickson Tata whose diving accident
left her wheelchair BOUND.

Yet GOD uses her mightily still and countless thousands have come to
know CHRIST the LORD.

Despite the uncomfortable blinders that Pain always brings, with satan trying to magnify our anguish and cloud our spiritual sight…

…steadfast Faith in JESUS in the midst of our storms WILL bring peace and calm.

We’re again reminded of Paul and Silas singing hymns and rejoicing in prison.

But GOD! Greater was their faith in the chains of CHRIST as HIS bondservants…than any raised fears or complaint of discomfort in the chains of their captors!

When we’re blinded by pain, those of us who are well must rise to the occasion and assist with greater love…

…as those willing even to lay down their life for their hurting friends.

So just 3 verses past James 1:2 which we just read is this verse. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask GOD, WHO gives generously to all without reproach, and
it will be given HIM.” Because!

I don’t understand all HIS ways or why so much pain must linger — sometimes even growing.

So serving others WITH Hope and trust
IN HIM WHO knows our hearts’ deepest groans and cries better than anyone else by far (exponentially so)…

serving others then — prioritizing them above self, this takes my lack of Vision, being flesh, and gives me IN-SIGHT into HIS love for me.

We’re all called with unique measurements of Faith which are sovereignly appointed as best for
that soul.

Deuteronomy 15:15 “You shall remember that you were a bondservant in the land
of Egypt, and the LORD your GOD redeemed you: therefore I command
you this thing today.”

As such, we lift up our brokenness and fractured faith daily…relying on HIM
and obeying HIS words since HE is
the only way!

Amen and amen.
