Extraneous Exercise!

Isaiah 35:4 “Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your GOD will come, HE will come with vengeance; with divine retribution HE will come to save you.”

Extraneous Exercise!

Relaxation and Rest
requires the soul
surrender to stand,
even perfectly still;

Curtailing those movements
called “mental gymnastics”,
and settling down till HIS
footprints they fill.

So this morning brings also
HIS summons to bow…
to place hands, knees and feet
with my forehead — in sand.

For there flood HIS comforts
as peace flowing rivers!
So kneel before HIM as
those STANDING best!

As HIServant joyously conceding again this morning in order to fully STAND and rest in HIS presence,

Devotional: Matthew 6:31-33 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly FATHER knows that you need all these things.

33 But seek first the kingdom of GOD and HIS righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you!”

Extraneous exercises then are those movements which do not bring rest nor comfort.

However, we engage with them still…in our Flesh.

It’s the challenge that our vessels of flesh often have.

We bow our heads to pray and distracting thoughts and other sounds fight for our attention.

We begin praying for others and find suddenly that we’re bouncing around from thought to thought while trying to focus just on interceding for the Body and the Lost!

That’s what I call “unnecessary mental gymnastics “. We find ourselves mentally “running from place to place in our heads”.

And these actions often wear us down and out where our Rest and Relaxation should be.

So before any such mental somersaults, backflips or leaps distract us…

…let’s simply lay at HIS feet this morning…in complete surrender.

Let’s forget every Time constraint then until we’ve forfeited all Fear, Anxiety, Doubt and Despair!

Just REST in HIS hands, my friends, for HE will lift you up… today!

Amen and amen!
