2 Timothy 2:7 “Consider what I say; and the LORD give you understanding in all things.”
Dust Cover Exchanges
For Wisdom one prays as HIS Scripture implores them. But absent of walking with HIM through its pages…
such knowledge lies dormant, unused and offcast.
As such is ones love — “paper thin” — for our SAVIOUR.
Consequently, the depth of HIS footprints is hidden…
far beneath dusty covers and pages unturned.
So the intellect sought for in Man’s book collections
lead solely to levels called, sadly, “unlearned”.
Therefore scratch past the surface and dig through HIS WORD!
Oh my soul, there secured shall your footprints remain!
Never slipping while Zeal still consumes your attentions,
remember HIS Wisdom is penned on each page!
As HIServant digging deeper, standing stronger,
Devotional: Romans 15:4 “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”
“Deeper Love, Fairest LORD!” was the original title I gave to this writing. But as I progressed on this digital canvas, this thought occurred to me.
There’s a constant battle between Man’s interpretations of GOD’s perfect WORD and The WORD Itself.
Meaning: The covers of our worldly textbooks and our favorite pastors or spiritual leaders writings have less “dust” than our Bibles.
Meaning: “Dust” equals disuse. Or unuse. If our ratios of attention lean more so to Man’s (especially my own) scribblings instead of CHRIST’s crimson letters, do we not err?
We must not permit our usage of supplemental texts equal that or ever near that…of our time spent solely in the Holy WORD of Almighty GOD.
Do you grasp the dilemma? We cannot run to the writings from “pillars of the faith” as our source of understanding as we grow deeper between the pages of the Bible.
1 Peter 2:2 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby…”
Yes, as new CHRISTians we seek knowledge from seasoned believers and appreciate their depth of gained Wisdom.
Acts 8:29-31 “And the SPIRIT said to Philip, “Go up and join this chariot.” 30 And when Philip had run up, he heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31 And he said, “Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?”
So the work of mature believers such as many of us are…is two fold. I submit to you that this pairing is inseparable.
First, with the Good News we reach the unbeliever and teach the new believer as well.
But as importantly, we emphasize the priceless inscriptions of the LORD as the “go to” source.
Consider Isaiah 55:11 “So will MY WORD be which goes forth from MY mouth; It will not return to ME empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”
So this note is to self and all. Exchange the time spent outside HIS WORD seeking answers for much more time INSIDE it.
1 Timothy 4:13 “Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.”
Better yet, just read HIS WORD without the crutches and “jump start” extra writings of others and wait upon the LORD.
Keep digging in and the very treasure of Knowledge you hunger for shall be revealed as you show your heart to the LORD…bent solely TO the LORD!
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “16 All scripture is given by inspiration of GOD, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man (servant) of GOD may be perfect, thoroughly furnished (prepared and equipped) unto all good works.”
Amen and amen!
