Instilled with HIS Presence Yes

Luke 4:4 “And JESUS answered him saying, “It is written that man shall not live by bread alone (or milk), but by every word (the Meat) of GOD!”

Instilled with HIS Presence!

As uncovered dishes, GOD’s feast sits before us…

the sheep of HIS pasture in front of the WORD.

Prepared for those who, after Righteousness hunger,

whose thirsting can only by CHRIST be fulfilled.

Yet a great many people expect to be present

the moment that JESUS appears for HIS Bride.

But with hands filled already by worldly substance,

they do not have room for the LORD of this Life!

For their bellies are full with such temporal cares

since their diet is substitute milk made from powder.

With its “dry bones” ingredients thus lacking nutrition…

so starve they in truth; white washed “breads” without flour.

And no yeast! Thus these join not the Marriage Feast’s gathering;

none lukewarm, pretentious, unbroken nor stubborn!

For such would not forfeit their “tastes” for LIfe’s trappings;

much less choose to bow and by CHRIST be reborn!

Yet this soul shouts, “Surrendered! HE is my possession;

without equal or peer. By none other — instilled!”

So shall I continue to dig through the Scriptures

till drawn to HIS Banquet! Forever then — filled!

As HIServant instilled beyond blessing with words of praise and encouragement,

Devotional: verb

past tense: instilled; past participle: instilled

  1. gradually but firmly establish (an idea or attitude, especially a desirable one) in a person’s mind.

Hallelujah! Within us HE has instilled HIS righteousness so that we know HIM! So that we praise HIM! So that we study HIS WORD and serve HIM relentlessly while zealously awaiting the moment HE comes back for us!

But my heart aches for though we don’t know what HIS menu is for that glorious event, most are carrying their own snacks and drinks and have little appetite for the things of GOD. Hebrews 5:12 “For though you should in fact be teachers by this time, you need someone to teach you the beginning elements of GOD’s utterances. You have gone back to needing milk, not solid food!”

How painfully true! The milk of the WORD here meaning the basics which still seem to be all that is tolerated in churches today. People dutifully open their bibles because the Pastor asks them to but largely it appears that the “Christian culture” of today is much more so on praise entertainment than on correct diet and portion control. They embrace the social nature of church radically more so than the substance of HIS WORD.

Meaning: For instance, hours of praise and worship are nice. I adore music and came from a family of musicians with the violin being my instrument. Music has and daily continues to lift my spirit when I’m down and I love singing along out of tune but with all my heart to countless great hymns and spiritual songs.

But music is NOT doctrine. 1 Timothy 4:16 “Take heed to yourself and to (The) doctrine (the meat of the WORD); be diligent (relentlessly instilled and outpoured) in this, for in doing so you shalt both save yourself and those that hear you!”

Christian worship music is amazing and inspiring, yes! BUT!! It is NOT the daily food and nourishment which are required to grow in grace and in the knowledge of the LORD JESUS CHRIST. (2 Peter 3:18) It is vital and a necessary part of our walk but EATING MEAT from HIS WORD is where the strength comes to continue daily.  Worship music can feel hollow during tough times but HIS WORD is always true. It is uncompromisingly powerful and sharper than any two edged sword! (Hebrews 4:12)

In like manner, the rigor of study cannot take the place of praise and worship. There are proportions to be maintained and respected. Sadly, many a church service I’ve watched, attended, or been informed of focus on drawing people in through the music.

However they drop the ball and even punt it away regarding delivering the more important portion of being a Christian. Growing in grace and in the knowledge of the LORD JESUS CHRIST. Eating Meat.

As we study the WORD of GOD, the words meat and “solid food” point to deeper study, but “milk” refers to simple and basic Christian teachings. Peter points out in 1 Peter 2:2 “As newborn babes, yearn after the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow.” GROW is the key word there, isn’t it?

Consider 1 Corinthians 3:1-7 “And I, brethren, could not speak to you as spiritual (studied, prepared, growing), but as carnal, even as babies in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for you weren’t able to bear it, nor are you able to even now. 3 For you are still carnal: for there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, so aren’t you carnal, and walking as men? 4 For while one says, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; aren’t you carnal? 5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom you believed, even as the LORD gave to every man? 6 I have planted, Apollos watered; BUT GOD gave the increase! 7 So then neither is he that plants any thing, nor he that waters; BUT GOD…that gives the increase.”

So being a new Christian isn’t a reason to not be called to the Wedding Feast. But stagnating by preaching and receiving only parts of the Bible that are, at best, referred to as “the basics”…will dull ones senses along with the “yearning” (desiring greatly) the deeper knowledge of the Bible.

I again reference a phrase GOD gave me decades ago. “It’s the depth of HIS footprints which restrain us from slipping!” It’s the depth of our study, the intentional entrenching of our feet within HIS footprints which grant us this blessing. You see, the music will fade and the joyous mountain top we were on will pass as HE sends back down into the valley to preach and share the Good News with others.

BUT GOD! HIS WORD is eternal! HIS communication to us is pure within the covers of Scripture! Yes, there are visions and yes, there are dreams but what I know to be absolutely spotless and without fault nor blemish IS HIS WORD! Hallelujah that we also have HIS finished work at Calvary to rest in without Fear!

So, dig deeper, look deeper, drive deeper into the wondrous waters of verse which HE authored for our growth and encouragement! Cross reference verses and listen to others who comment on those verses who believe wholly in GOD’s sovereignty, man’s total depravity and HIS finished work!

Be willingly instilled to greater heights than what music alone can provide. Do so by asking GOD for Wisdom…which is my daily plea as well.  Seek first the kingdom of GOD (Matthew 6:33) be staying IN HIS WORD and all these things shall be added unto you! Amen and amen!
