to HIS finished work
is Rest — thus perfected
by CHRIST!
The greatest “subtraction”
is what our flesh adds
to HIS cross…as if we
had been there.
Thus equations HE penned,
in summary, are blest!
So trust all HIS steps…
for your answers!

Devotional: Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will ANSWER you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”
The Teacher’s Guide is the Answer Book which is the Holy Bible. It not only has been given to us to learn, but also for Rest and Comfort.
Psalms 23:2 “HE will make me lie upon lush pastures and HE will lead me by restful waters.”
I’ve always loved this verse highlighting HIS care for us. What a visual verse of power and peace!
Power in that HE MAKES us lie down. Often we’re off running and doing a great many things.
Often we don’t heed the call to stand still and listen. Often we fill our plates with so much that our “waiting and listening” privileges are lost, even forfeited.
Peace in that HE is leading. Peace in that HE knows the way that we take and will bring us forth as gold!
Still…often we resign to the frenetic and frenzied rat race as though HE doesn’t have peace for us. And these thoughts lead us to these next two verses.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge HIM, and HE will make straight your paths.
A humble paraphrase if I may? “ Trust all of your heart’s questions and problems to the LORD and cast off trying to figuring out the answer on your own.
Do this with every path you take by asking HIM first and patiently waiting for HIS solutions…already well written in HIS most Holy WORD.
Then, continuing to follow HIM in the steps HE creates, you’ll find your paths surely and sovereignly straightened!
LORD, grant us daily wisdom to clearly see YOUR chalkboard. Give us grace and understanding to apply the answers YOU provide to our lives.
Remind us also to be watching and serving others, humbly showing them YOUR Teacher’s Guide so as to learn together! We know YOUR return is close at hand!
So we wait with eager expectations for THEE, oh long awaited KING, to lead us into eternal Rest!
