Hebrews 12:2 “Let us fix our eyes on JESUS, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before HIM endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of GOD.”
Decisively Forward!
Embrace the comparison of who you are now with who HE called you to be….as opposed to who you were before versus who you are now.
This is known as the “third alternative”. “How so?”, you may ask? Great question!
Instead of agonizing between two polar opposites, on either end of the spectrum…you consider the center point as well.
Meaning “Am I standing still / falling back?” compared to “Am I standing still / moving forward?”
Our focus could also be described as “Will this choice do nothing for me or harm me?” Or “Will this choice do nothing for me or help me?”
Now we can account for those moments of “standing still”…as we wait on HIS answers.
While admittedly simple, it has been profoundly helpful in my decision making through Life.
So back to the first paragraph. “Embrace the comparison of who you are now with who HE called you to be…as opposed to who you were before…versus who you are now.”
Do you see “the present while looking backwards” view as compared to the “present while looking forward” view?
It makes a world of difference when you eliminate the variable of staring backwards!
Now this does NOT mean we ignore our past mistakes, refuse to learn from our former steps or set ourselves up to fail by just doing what we’ve always done.
For without repentance and a whole turning away from sin, there is no stable evidence of CHRIST within our hearts.
As such, any decision making process will unhelpful. Without JESUS as our uncompromised ROCK, the most important choice and the greatest blessings will elude us.
Even so, for those who are called according to HIS purposes, seeking HIS face, I pray this simple “third alternative” has value in your “Decisively Forward!” walk with Almighty GOD!
